Occupying a key parcel
in the eclectic East Village of New York City, the 12-story
Carl Fischer Building and its adjacent warehouse were the subject
of a major adaptive reuse and renovation project managed by
a Henna principal. This vintage 1926 historic edifice, which
previously housed the renowned Carl Fischer music publishing
company, is located across the street from the landmark Cooper
Union where Abraham Lincoln and Mark Twain once spoke.
In what started as an opportunistic
acquisition in 1999, the Art Deco classic was subsequently converted
into 18,800 square feet of prime retail space and 26 loft-style
condominiums, both of which were delivered into a robust real
estate market. The Henna principal lead all phases of the substantial
redevelopment effort, including the procurement of historic
building status and other entitlements, design, development,
and marketing.
